Welcome to the Second Edition of the KCTC Club Newsletter!
Welcome to the latest edition of the Kilfeacle Community Tennis Club Newsletter for 2025! As we head into a busy summer season, we’re excited to share all the latest updates, achievements, and upcoming events happening at the club. From fantastic tournament results and social tennis evenings to our 40th anniversary celebrations and future plans for leagues, there’s plenty to celebrate and look forward to. Whether you’re new to the club or a long-time member, we hope this newsletter keeps you informed and inspired to get involved.
New Members - A warm welcome to all our new members! Please refer to the new members’ booklet sent to you by email. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch at info@kilfeacletennis.ie.
Kilfeacle Mixed 2025 – This year’s Kilfeacle Mixed was once again a great success with 208 players competing across 6 events. Congratulations to the ‘William O’Neill Cup’ (Grade 4) winners, John Geoghegan and Sinead Corbett from Ballypatrick Tennis Club! It was brilliant to see such a strong Kilfeacle presence throughout the tournament – well done to everyone who took part!

Club’s 40th Celebrations – While the finals of the Kilfeacle Mixed were underway, the club welcomed neighbouring clubs and locals to celebrate our 40th anniversary – a fantastic milestone for our small but mighty club on the hill.
Club President Jacinta Coman gave a lovely speech about the early days, including how the site and courts were developed in the early 1980s. The club was officially formed and hosted its first event in May 1985.
A special congratulations to Declan Keaty, who was awarded Honorary Membership in recognition of his many years of behind-the-scenes work and dedication to the club – very well deserved!.

Social Tennis – We’ve already enjoyed two fantastic social tennis evenings this year – thanks to everyone who joined us! The next one is scheduled for 27th June, so mark your calendar. To stay updated on future dates, keep an eye on our Facebook, Instagram, the ‘KCTC WhatsApp Community – Announcements’ group, and your email inbox.
South Tipp League and Summer Cup - We’re delighted to have 6 teams representing KCTC in the South Tipperary League this season – best of luck to all players taking part! We also have at least 4 teams competing in the Munster Tennis Summer Cup – great to see such strong participation across both competitions!
BBQ Evening – We’re planning a BBQ social evening on Saturday, 23rd August for all members. More details will be shared in August – stay tuned!
Court 3 Resurfacing - Resurfacing work on Court 3 is scheduled to begin in late July. We’ll confirm the exact date with members as soon as it’s finalised.
Club Leagues for 2025/2026 - We’re working on an exciting new format for our Club Leagues! Full details will be shared in early August, with leagues kicking off in early September.
KCTC League Gradings - All KCTC Club leagues for the 2025/2026 season will be based on the official player listings in the Munster Player Directory at players.munstertennis.ie/. Now is the time to ensure your grade is accurate so you can be placed in the most suitable league in September. You can check your current grade by searching your name in the directory.
To support fair and accurate placements, we’ll be holding two grading sessions at the end of July here at Kilfeacle Tennis Club.
We encourage ungraded players - including those who have previously taken part in KCTC leagues but are not listed in the directory — to attend. For the purposes of the KCTC League, these players will be assumed to be Grade 6 unless officially assessed. This grading session is your chance to be evaluated and added to the system properly.
We also encourage players who feel their current official Munster grade does not reflect their playing level (e.g. listed as Grade 6 but playing at Grade 5 standard) to attend. Following assessment by our coach, your grade may be updated in the directory.
Helping everyone play at the right level keeps our leagues fair, balanced, and enjoyable.
Summer Camp 2025 - Kicks off the week of 30th June with Bryan Steward. A few places are available in the afternoon session which can be booked at https://kilfeacletennis.ie/summercamp. We hope all the kids enjoy a fantastic week of fun and tennis!
Green Fees - Just a reminder: if you’re bringing a non-member guest, please make sure to enter their details when booking your court. The €5 guest fee can be paid under the Payments section of the KCTC website. Any questions, contact us at info@kilfeacletennis.ie.
WhatsApp Groups - Stay connected through our WhatsApp groups: “Men’s Up for a Match”, “Women’s Up for a Match” and “Mixed Up for a Match”. These groups are a fantastic way to arrange matches with other members on short notice. These groups can be joined from the Main KCTC Whatsapp Community. Any issues with joining, please contact the club via whatsapp.
Club House Access – At a recent Community Centre meeting, KCTC members were kindly asked to avoid passing through the hall when events are taking place (e.g. Cards, Yoga, Organic Farmers Market, Michael Murphy’s Clinic, etc.), especially when heading to the kitchen for water or other areas. Also, please remember to book the hall in advance if you plan to use it for any team hosting, meetings, or finals nights. For convenience, a drinking water tap is located around the gable end wall of the tennis club, near the practice court/playground area.
Looking forward to seeing you all on the courts!
